About the Yamaha MG166FX 16-Channel, 4-Bus Mixer with Dual EFX

The mid-range MG models go beyond the basics to give you extensive control for a wide range of applications and the no-compromise Yamaha sonic quality that make the MG mixers the finest in their class. Whether music is a hobby or profession, these mixers will deliver total satisfaction. If you don't need effects, or already have an arsenal of outboard favorites, the MG12/4 or MG16/4 may offer all the capacity and capabilities you need. But if the idea of having some of the finest effects available built right into the console appeals to you, then consider the effect enabled MG16/6FX.

Yamaha MG166FX 16-Channel, 4-Bus Mixer with Dual EFX Reviews

Feature:
It has almost anything you will need. The graphic equalizer does a good job in a small setting and can be switched off if you want you use an external device. Like I said, the effects are pretty good. There are plenty of connection possibilities and the sub groups are handy. The only real downfall of the board is that it does not have main inserts. Most people probably won't even need them, but I wish that Yamaha would have went the extra mile on that. All and all, a great value!

Quality:
It's built solidly and like someone else said, the faders are smoother than on Mackie boards.

Value:
For the price, you can't beat it.

Desirability:
It's good lookin', as mixers go.

Sound:
The sound was better than I expected for the price I paid for the mixer. The effects processor isn't stellar, but it is better than other, more expensive effects units I've used.

Support:
I've only been to their site. It's not the most user-friendly, but I found the info. I was looking for.

Overall:
I expect the mixer to serve me for quite a while, at least until I can afford a soundcraft.
