The SLX24 Beta 87A is worth every penny!
I read the reviews and initially would not believe such a mic could bring my vocal sound to a new unbelievable sounding level. I tried the wireless PGX24 Beta 58. Not bad, but a little boomy for my liking,(was still getting the singing in a box feeling and much EQ was required to tame it) whereas the SLX beta 87a is just so clear and natural. There was'nt much EQ changes required to make this mic sound warm, powerful and top dollar! The SLX reciever box is heavy weight, sturdy and is built to last, unlike the PGX.
the only gripe I would have is why does'nt it come in a nice Shure moulded case like the PGX system. Don't let that put you off though. If you are umming and erring between Beta 58, SM range and beta 87A, there really is no contest. You WILL notice the difference instantly. It has cost me alot of dough to find the best mic and I was only put off the Beta 87 by the price.
But if you are serious about your sound, and don't require mass multiple systems connected together, don't mess around, go straight for the best. Watch the TV, More and more pro artists use a Beta 87 wireless. They are up there with the very best! The SLX is as good as the ULX series and the Beta 87A wireless mic feels as good as it sounds.
You won't be sorry!
