About the Roland VR760 Performance Keyboard

The VR-760 V-Combo is a unique instrument built to cover the bases of keyboard sounds - including the same Virtual ToneWheel organs of Roland's VK-Series, high-quality FP- and RD-Series pianos, all-new electric pianos with COSM Amp Modeling, and even synthesizer sounds with SRX expansion. This 76-note instrument also sports a waterfall keyboard and a host of futuristic performance features including a D Beam, Active Expression and V-LINK for synchronizing video.

Roland VR760 Performance Keyboard Reviews

Feature:
There's a large bank of internal FX, but for some reason most of them are only assignable to the synth sounds -- that's a shame, and doesn't make much sense. Effects are high-quality, though, and the amp modeling for organ and piano sounds is fantastic.

Quality:
Very well-constructed, solid but not too heavy. The keyboard action is among the best I've used -- it's meant to imitate B3-style waterfall keys, but the action is really similar to a well-played Rhodes.

Value:
I do wish all effects were applicable to all sounds, but the Rhodes and organ sounds alone are WELL worth the price of admission. Add to that the amp/mic modeling, onboard effects, and fantastic keyboard, and it's a winner.

Desirability:
The keys, man -- just play it. It's fantastic.

Sound:
For years I've played (and maintained, and sweated over) various Fender Rhodes from the early 70s. My current one's a 1972. In the back of my head I've been convinced that there'd be a viable replacement someday -- the sound, the touch, without the weight, the hassle, the mechanical problems, etc. This is it -- the VR 760 is the one instrument I've found that's a perfect replacement for a mint-condition Rhodes Mark I. In addition, the organ module is fantastic, and the synth section features some usable sounds.

Support:
Haven't dealt with them yet, so I'll give it a 7 -- benefit of the doubt.
