The FC4 is a low cost, small capsule, true condenser microphone with transformerless discrete low noise class-A electronics. The 20 mm, 3 um gold-sputtered diaphragm has a cardioid shaped polar pattern and a great sensitivity.

I mostly use these to record drums and certain acoustic instruments. These are not only phenomenal for their price range, personally I think they're better than my shure pg81's! They have such a natural - non shrill sound. Almost ribbon like. The build of these mics is also very good, however I broke the shock mount to mine, but with a simple email, Golden Age sent me a replacement immediately. As long as I'm dealing with a company with that kind of integrity I won't hesitate to buy Golden Age products in the future.
