About the Fender Standard Precision Bass
Fender invented the Electric Bass in 1951 in response to requests from musicians for a louder, easier-to-handle bass. This new instrument was named the Precision Bass. Unlike its predecessor -- the acoustic stand-up bass, the P-Bass¬ had frets, which allowed bassists to play with precision. Needless to say, a "new playing sensation" was born and the sound of popular music changed forever.

Quality:
The bass i use for our jazz band is about 25 years old.....it still is an awesome instrument....but im lookin to buy my own...the one i have is school owned...
Value:
compared to the $1000 dollar basses out there this one is just as quality...but much cheaper.
Sound:
The Bass is nice.....the sound quality is very adjustble....i use it in our High School Jazz Band and need to be able to vary it from a more treble sound to a deep bass sound and this bass helps with that very nicely.
